ADC-MI File Federal Lawsuit Against Advance America Cash Advance SOUTHFIELD, MI 11/12/14 - The Michigan Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) chapters and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee-Michigan (ADC-MI) today released a motion against Advance America Cash Advance (Advance America) for refusing to give instructions to a Moslem and Arab-American lady at one of their offices. An action was brought in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, Detroit. contest the company's policies that prevent Moslem and Arab-American female workers dressed in hijabs or headgear from receiving service in their centres. It also requires an interim restraining order prohibiting Advance America from refusing the plaintiff and other Moslem and Arab-American female users of the practice to gain entry to its service on the basis of the plaintiff's faith, racial or ethnicity.

"Advance America Cash Advance's politics of not ministering to Moslem and Arab-American woman wearers of the holy jab or headgear is disgusting and should not be allowed in a civilised society," said CAIR-MI Staff Attorney Lena Masri. The whole lawsuit: The CAIR contributed to resolving a number of similar situations throughout the country where Muslims carrying heijab have been molested or refused access to services because of the "no hats" guidelines enforced in banking institutions across the country.

The CAIR is America's biggest Islamic organisation for citizens' rights and representation of interests. It has a mandate to improve Islamic comprehension, foster dialog, safeguard civic freedoms, strengthen American Muslims and form alliances that foster equity and reciprocal understandings.

INKSTER, MI 11/11/14 - On Wednesday, November 12, the Michigan Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) Michigan Chapter and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee-Michigan (ADC-MI) will be holding a press briefing in Inkster, Michigan, to announce the lodging of a federally-held complaint against Advance America Cash Advance for refusing to give funds to a Moslem and Arab-American women in one of their offices.
