Home Loan plus RenovationMortgage plus renovation
Hello, I'm sorry if this has been previously announced, but I've been searching the web and can only find years old information and I've talked to 2 bankers and 2 other mortgage consultants who give different responses. Generally, if you buy a home for less than it's worth, can you get a home loan on the home value and use the differential to repay for renovation?
For example, home is priced at 150k (now, not prospective value) and they are accepting an offer initially for 135k. Here's an example. Is it possible to get a 150K mortgages and use the additional to finance the renovation? Or can I just borrow on the sales proceeds? Tip I have been given is that you can.... and on the other hand, they say that you can only loan on the lowest value, whether that is the house rate or the buying rate.
lf not, how would you finance a home renovation? The only thing I can imagine is getting a loan separately or just having the money to do it at all (which we don't).
