Accelerate Loans National (PGA Tour) 2016 Previews
In Maryland this weekend, Ernie Els is participating in the Quicken Loans National (formerly known as AT & T National) and he won the U.S. Open in 1997 when the course hosted the Major. The Tiger Woods Fondation will benefit from this event, which will take place from 23 June to 26 June 2016.
The Robert Trent Jones Club in Gainesville, Virginia, last year organized this for the first edition, but it now takes place at the Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Maryland, which previously organized this competition from 2007 - 2009 and from 2012 - 2014. Aronimink Club in Pennsylvania was the location for this 2010 and 2011 edition of the game.
There are 120 contestants and this is part of the fedEx cup program and the winners receive 500 points. Its blue course at Congressional Country Club, Bethesda, Maryland is a 71 park and is long at 7569 yards and has three 5 park and four 3 park. Homestead of this 2007-2009 edition, it was then rebuilt and extended and used for the 2011 U S Open, which Rory Mcilroy won.
From 2012 to 2014, the newly designed square was used for this function. Of the nine PGA Champions (with the sole exceptions of last year's Troy Merritt), eight had previously won at least one PGA competition, so this was not a good case for those who tried to win their first PGA win.
The course might fit the long players if they are quite precise, but it hasn't been an easier course since it was revamped, and only one of the players (Bill Haas 2013) has been able to reach levels below two digits in the three years that the course has been running this tournament from 2012 to 2014.
In my opinion, those of you who can handle your shot with precision and putting well on the demanding quick green will probably do well here.
