Registration with Visa credit card

MasterCard or Visa - Credit cards - Credit cards In contrast to what is commonly believed, Visa, MasterCard and the like are not credit card cards, but rather payments settlement network. This network processes credit and debit card transaction, verifies them with your card issuing company and accepts or rejects them on your account on the basis of your available monies. Dealers pay a handling charge for this type of services, which enables them to earn a living.

If you use your credit or debit card, your payments system (e.g. MasterCard) links the place of purchase to your bank's credit card division. For example, if you go to the grocery store and use your credit card at the checkout, MasterCard will be the one to check with your card issuing company to see if there is enough cash in your current balance to cover your purchases.

We have four major pay networks: MasterCard, Visa, American Express et Discover. The MasterCard and Visa are available in more than 150 different jurisdictions and are the most widely recognised cards among the four - it is also very seldom that one is recognised but the other is not. The American Express takes third place in the adoption rates, in part because it has a higher handling charge than Visa or MasterCard, while Discover is the least acceptable of the four.

If you are traveling, it may be wise to check in ahead whether or not your card will be acceptable in the destination state. A good thing would also be to find out whether card payments are generally acceptable or whether there is a preference for money. Note that it is not the network of payments that determines what your credit card will offer in respect of royalties, dues, etc., or the term of your agreement - these are all determined by your issuing company.

However, all nets have their own incentive systems - such as petrol bonuses or use of the terminal lounges, and there are some variations in the advantages of MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. As more and more shopping is done on-line, many credit card companies have implemented additional safeguards to help keep you safe when you pay for goods or not.

The Visa edition, Verified by Visa, and the MasterCard SecureCode work in the same way to help keep you safe when you buy now. When you log in, you can set a keyword that will be used every times you use your card on-line to provide additional security for your on-line shopping.
