As soon as you have your free yearly credit report, you can still order extra information. A credit report firm cannot legally charge more than $12.00 for a credit report. Most of the listed organizations report for free every 12 month. Others may bill you a commission for your report. If any of the following applies to you, you may receive free extra reports: If you have been notified that you have been refused credit, insurances or jobs, or that you have suffered another "undesirable act" on the basis of a credit report, you have the right to a free report from the credit bureau specified in the notification.
In order to obtain the free report, you must submit a claim within 60 workingdays of receipt of the message.
